Weight.

I have used birds juxtapose to paper airplanes and complex aircrafts as a metaphor for the array of mobility.  The act of growth comes so naturally in this world.  A bird just knows how to fly.   No matter how many times my daughter tries at simple tasks does not equal the outcome.  Growth for her is a struggle.    In addition, the birds represent finding a way and possibility.  They speak to a greater power.   A power I find myself wrestling with.  Whirling within a lack of control.

The scribble within the imagery is Josey’s handwriting.  It  blends together into a beautiful illegible secret language all her own.     It represents her voice and my inability to get into her mind.  It is a literal visual of her  physical struggle.

In a perfect world I want this body of work to bring on a conversation of how to support the ones we love who cannot empower themselves.  I want it to connect your hand to mine and lighten this load.   To connect those of us who feel isolated in our journey of hope for the ones we love who are miles outside the box.  I want to call attention to those of us who fight with all our reserve to help those without wings in their cruel, vast, magnificent journey to lift off the ground in one extraordinary way or another.

I guess all I want is simple….

Lift off and an army on my girl’s side.
